Joint public and private ownership
GFW Duisburg is owned half by the City of Duisburg and half by 33 Duisburg companies. Apart from the shareholders' meeting, there is also a supervisory board.
The supervisory board
The supervisory board advises and supervises the management and represents the company vis-à-vis the management. It consists of twelve members. This includes the Lord Mayor of the City of Duisburg (Chairman of the Supervisory Board), the Chief Manager of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board), the Head of the city's Urban Development Department as well as four other persons assigned by the City of Duisburg. The remaining five members are elected by simple majority from among shareholders representing business.
